The cannon ball is fired horizontally. The initial horizontal velocity of the cannon ball is v_{ox}=50\ m/s .

Time taken by the ball to reach ground is t=5 seconds.

The acceleration of the ball in the horizontal direction is zero, the horizontal velocity does not change with time. The horizontal velocity of the ball throughout the motion is

v_x=v_{ox}=50\ m/s

The horizontal distance covered by the ball in 5 seconds is

x=v_xt

x=(50\ m/s)\times(5\ s)

\boxed{x=250\ m}
