1. Nursing is one of the profession in health care which deals with providing care to the patient , family and community.
In the media , nurses are portrayed in both the ways good as well as bad . The way they portray the nurses- is what perceived by the public . If they show that the nurses are just the persons in the hospital who do the basic needs of the patient ( providing bed bath ,mouth care etc ) then the public percieve it as nurses are those who work as a helper or nursing aaya / aid .This occurred due to the incomplete presentation of the duties and responsibilities of a nurse by the media to the public .
When the media shows that a nurse is caring a patient in a intensive health care unit dealing with cardiac monitors , defibrillator ,infusion pumps etc ,public perceive that the nurses are medical professionals ,they are the core element of a hospital who spends most of the time with patients than any other health care professional, and provides care to the patient ,family and the community . So, it depends on the way how they portray the nurses to the public .
