Structural functionalism suggests that the society is a complex system whose parts work together to promote stability and solidarity. This would mean that it views all the functions and institutions as necessary and important as they fulfil certain function.

Ulrich Beck discussed the risk society.

Risk society refers to the manner in which modern societies organize themselves in response to risks. There are plenty of risks that a modern society faces such as, environmental, social, structural, political and economic. It’s the preparedness and handling of these issues that would make a society more resilient and powerful. Those that fail to address or solve these risks would perish.
