What physical property of the FD&C dyes is the basis of the resolutions you will perform in this experiment? Briefly explain.
We will use chromatographic technique. Generally we use Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) for basic identification of different compounds like dyes and other organic compounds as well. The key factor to identify the different dyes are based on Rf value (Retention factor). Retention factor, you are comparing the retention values of dyes, since different dyes shows different Rf values, which can be very helpful to identify, differentiate and isolate them seperately.
Hence Retention factor is the physical property of the FD&C dyes is the basis of the resolutions you will perform in this experiment.
Hope this helped you!
