Answer #1

a)

  • Fencing is needed for the arc part only
  • We have to find the arc length of the circular sector
  • Radius 'r' = 220 ft
  • Total circle has 360 degree of angle around the origin, One-eight of circle consist of 45 degree of angle around the origin.i,e. \pi /4 radian.

Arc .lenth=r.\theta

Arc .lenth=220.\pi /4=172.78

Fencing needed to be done on 172.78 ft

b)

Radius 'r' = 17 in

Inside angle = 105 degree =1.8326 rad (105 x \pi /180)

Area of circular sector =(\theta /2)r^2 =(1.8326/2)17^2=264.81

Area of circular sector is 264.81 sqr inch

No fencing is needed along the barn, and the fencing along the west side of the plot is shared with a neighbor who will split the cost of that portion of the fence. If the fencing costs $10 per linear foot to install and the farmer is not willing to spend more than $5000, find the...

Exploration 16.2:A Parameterization of Movement in the Plane Since you are approximating the various chosen s lengths, it might be helpful to note that 1/8 of an inch is equal to 0.125 inches and thus 1/16 of an inch is approximately equal to Often it is useful to investigate a rule or relation between ordered pairs in the plane as they relate to yet a third variable or parameter. In this investigation, movement of an object in the plane is...

In this exercise, you will analyze the supply-demand equilibrium of a city under some special simplifying assumptions about land-use. The assumptions are: (i) all dwellings must contain exactly 1500 square feet of floor space, regardless of location, and (ii) apartment complexes must contain exactly 15,000 square feet of floor space per square block of land area. These land-use restrictions, which are imposed by a zoning authority, mean that dwelling sizes and building heights do not vary with distance to the...
