Answer #1

13) The time spent for studying for the maths (X) is exponentially distributed with

Mean = \frac{1}{\lambda} = 4.2 hours

So, the parameter of the exponential distribution will be -

\lambda = \frac{1}{4.2} = 0.24

P(3 < X < 5) = P(X < 5) - P(X < 3) = \int_{0}^{5}\lambda. e^{-\lambda.x} - \int_{0}^{3}\lambda. e^{-\lambda.x}   = \int_{0}^{5}(0.24)* e^{-0.24x} - \int_{0}^{3}(0.24)*.e^{-0.24x}

= 0.6988- 0.5132

= 0.1856

Hence, the option (c) is the correct option.

14) Appropriate hypothesis are -

Ho : \mu\leq 683,008

Ha : \mu > 683,008

Hence, option (c) is the correct option.

Usually what we wish to know is kept in alternative hypothesis, here we wishe to test whether prices in Cupertino was greater than country average (683,008)

    Question 17 4 pts A researcher was interested in comparing the amount of time spent watching television by women and by men. Independent simple random samples of 14 women and 17 men were selected, and each person was asked how many hours he or she had watched television during the previous week. The summary statistics are shown in the chart below. The following 99% confidence interval was obtained for the difference between the mean amount of time spent watching television...
