Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychological disorder that is usually triggered after the person has been through a difficult and traumatic experience or distressing event. It causes nightmares, flashbacks, etc. They often have thoughts that are uncontrollable and they are related to the event. They also have anxiety, difficulty in coping and adjusting, their condition affects their work, social, personal, and all the other aspects of life.
It can be treated with the help of psychotherapy as well as medications.
The therapies usually used for PTSD are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, exposure therapy, etc.
The medications can help with the symptoms of anxiety, depression, etc.
