Answer #1

D. 2064.36 hrs

Explanation:

The learning curve is usually given by

Y = aXb

Where

Y = cumulative average time per unit or batch.

a = time taken to produce the first unit; 80 hours here

X = Cumulative units of production

Learning Rate = 0.8

b = the learning coefficient, which is calculated as: log(learning rate) ÷ log 2 =

= (log(.80)/log2)

= -0.32193

Given Y26 = a(26)(log(.80)/log2) = 28.03 hrs

Similarly, Y125 = 80(125)(log(.80)/log2) = 16.91 hrs

Therefore, total time taken to produce from unit 26 through units 125 = ΣYi

Where i = 26 to 125

We can create a data table for that using the formulaes above

Learning rate Number of Units Produced a Y X b 80% 80 13.5246 250 -0.3219 26 27 28 Learning Rate 80% 28.03 27.69 27.37
