Ans : Given claim that their experimental data had a large sample size and it reports a p-value of 0.0044

Given that we perform the Two tailed test .

here we know that the experimental data has large sample size

then we perform the Two tailed z test for population mean

To Test :

H0= µ = µ0 versus   H1 : µ ≠ µ0

Test Statistics :

To find test statistic value :

here we have to given that p value = 0.0044

We know that from the two tailed test

p - value = 2*P(Z > z)

\Rightarrow2*P(Z > z) = 0.0044

\RightarrowP(Z > z) = 0.0022

then z = 2. 85 ( From statistical table )

Ans :

Test Statistic = 2.85
