Describe the advantages and disadvantages of end user developed DSS

End user developed of DSS (Decision Support System) places the main task of developing and maintaining the DSS to the managers who is responsible for supervising the system or who develops it.

Advantages are-

- Managers feel empowered to build their own DSS for their departments

- It meets the requirements of the managers and the team faster than the enterprise-wise system.

- Ability to prioritize tasks for high investment projects

- Acceptable to a variety of users

- Encourages innovation and creativity to solve even the most complex problems.

Disadvantages are-

- Results in duplication of work when enterprise-wide solutions are available.

- Increases the cost of the project/department

- Possibility of data being misused.

- Inflexibility in the system with short-term life.

- Manager loses control over data when the team uses it.
