Axon regeneration When ever a damage occur to neuron the part of axon in contact with cell body regenerate. Immediately after damage macrophages, schwann cells and other phagocytes reach the area and clear the dead part of neuron But the endoneurium of axon remain uncleared for directing the regrowth of axon. Then from the axon part attached to cell body growth cones start to appear. The schwann cells release neurotrophic factors that stimulate axon growth.
