The three key runoff mechanisms that contribute to runoff Overland flow, Through flow & base flow. ① Overland flow It is that part of runoff which enters the stream immediately after the sunoff rainfall. It takes place along the surface of land. ③ Through flow It is that part of renoff which occurs below the ground surface & above the ground water table. It is also called interflow The delayed flow that reaches a stream generally ground water is called base flow.
