Disciplinary Process at Fastenal

Fastenal is an American based company that was founded in the year 1967. It has a distribution channel for distributing goods to other companies. Fastenal has a very impressive disciplinary process. The company does not engage itself in any kind of discrimination among its employees on any ground whether it be caste, creed, culture, etc. It provides an equal working opportunity for all there employees and they stood by their employees in any need or critical situation. The company follows all the rules, regulation, policies, and laws framed by the government and abide them. There is an anti-harassment policy in the organization which helps the employees to have an equal working opportunity. The company helps all the employees to work freely but in a professional manner. Disciplinary actions are also taken against those employees who do not follow the ethical code of conduct in the organization. In case of any discrepancy, the employees are either issued a written notice or a verbal warning when the code of conduct is not followed by them. Disciplinary actions can also be taken when:

• When a person is absent without information and when it is repeated from time to time.
• The performance of the employee is not up to the mark.
• When an employee does not follow the instruction of the superior.
• Violence at the workplace.
• Improper and unethical use of the equipment at the premises.

In some extreme cases, there is immediate termination of the employees. Like:

• Stealing things from the workplace.
• Any kind of fraud in the billing or misrepresentation of the data etc.
• Sexual harassment.
• Bringing and selling any unethical thing on the office premise like drugs, alcohol, etc.
• Breaking the safety rules.
• Any kind of verbal harassment.

The company has a strict rule for employees in such cases. But on the other hand, the company helps its employees in a kind of problematic situation. The company also provides training to the employees from time to time reading the handling of drugs and other dangerous things at the workplace. In this manner, that company deals with the problem employees.

This is an effective method as the company has specified the list of strict actions that could be taken against the employees. So, they will obey the ethical code of conduct within the workplace which will minimize any uncertain events at the company.

The changes that I would recommend:

1. Equality must be there in the workplace.
2. The safety measure training must be conduct more times so that the employees remain aware of the things and they can handle any kind of uneven situation.
3. Sexual harassment must be treated as a criminal offense.
