Answer #1

The necessary calculation doane below.

n Before 1 2 3 4 5 After 110 111 108 109 112 sum dbar d=Before After (d-dbar)^2 106 4 108 3 102 6 105 4 104 8 25 1 4 1 1 9 16

Here n=5,

s=standard deviation = sqrt(sum( d-dbar)^2)/4) = sqrt(16/4)= 2

The 95 % confidence interval for overall average decreases is IQ's for lazy student is given by

( dbar- t(0.025) * s/ sqrt(n), dbar+ t(0.025) * s/ sqrt(n))

(5-2.776* 2/sqrt(5) , 5+2.776* 2/sqrt(5))

(5- 2.4833, 5+ 2.4833)

(2.5167, 7.4833)
