Power that is checked will change the behavior and character of the powerful individual to work in accordance with the set rules and regulations but unchecked powers will make the powerful individual rogue to disregard the rules that govern how he or she should work with others and manage the organization his or her ways will be the order of the day undermining the organisation.
In corporate governance, the clash of personal interest should be subordinate to those of the organization, this is where power is checked and the board of directors will be restrained by the rules of governance, whereas in absolute power the individual interests supersede the organizational goals.
In politics Democratic systems, power is checked by the doctrine checks and balances, in such system no matter how the leaders have egoistical tendencies the law is always supreme, whereas in dictatorship where there is absolute power, the leaders are the law unto themselves, this where their whims are the law of their nations, absolute powers have corrupted the leader absolutely.
