5. What do you see as the most significant cause of violence in families? How can we change the patterns and minimize the consequences of this violence for families?

The most common cause I see of family violence when one family member has the urge to dominate and control other family members. This arises due to low self esteem , jealousy and their inefficiency of regulating their emotions and projecting their emotions on other people .

There are a number of things which can be done to solve this problem of family violence .

• The first thing that can be done is to seek support from peers and professionals
• Both partners should understand and be involved in techniques which can help them in venting out their emotions and stress.
• INdulging in positive defence mechanisms such as sublimation .
• Practicing effecting and clear cut communication
• Breaking the cycle and find the signs in the beginning only and escaping from its harmful effects
• Legal action
