Determine the reactions at the supports A and B. EI is constant. (Figure 1)

Part A
Detemins the force of rosction ot A.
Part B
Determine the moment of reaction at A.
Part C
Determine the force of reaction at B.
Solution
The beam is simply support at B and fixed support at A so at Point A there are horizontal as well as vertical reaction force and at B there is only vertical support reaction.
Now the applied load is only in vertical direction therefore the horizontal reaction at A is zero.
And the sum of vertical reaction force is equal to the applied vertical load (WL)
RA + RB = WL
WL is act at the midpoint of the beam so the Reaction force at A and B both are same and equal to WL/2
RA = RB = WL/2
Moment of reaction force about A is
=WL/2*L
=WL2/2

For a constant EI (use EI as a constant in
your answer):
a. Determine the reactions RA and RC and
draw the shear force diagram (SFD) and the bending moment diagram
(BMD). See image below.
b. Determine the slope at A (θA) and the deflection
at B (ΔB) using the Moment-Area Method.
c. Determine the equation of the elastic curve, y(x), using the
Integration Method.
