Answer #1

Moment area theorems provide two theorems for change in slope and deviation of two points. they are defined below-

1st theorem-The change in slope between any of two given points two points on the elastic curve of structure is equal to the area of the M/EI (bendingmoment/ flexural rigidity) diagram in between these two points.

2nd theorem- Vertical deviation of any point A on the elastic curve with respect to the tangent drwan at any point B is given by moment of the area under the M/EI diagram between the points A and B about A. the moment is calculated about A and its deviation wrt tangent at B is determined.

option a is incorrect as The change in slope between any of two given points two points on the elastic curve of structure is equal to the area of the M/EI (bendingmoment/ flexural rigidity) diagram in between these two points not half the area.

option b is correct.

option c and d both are incorrect as Vertical deviation of any point A on the elastic curve with respect to the tangent drwan at any point B is given by moment of the area under the M/EI diagram between the points A and B about A thus point A is on elastic curve not tangent at A.

hence correct option is only option b.

An engineering company is designing and testing a car suspension system. The system has a conventional suspension design, consisting of a shock-absorber and spring at each wheel. The shock-absorber provides a damping effect that is proportional to the vertical speed (i.e. up and down motion) of the wheel, and the spring's resistance is proportional to the vertical displacement of the wheel. The design team analyses the suspension system in two separate parts: Part 1 - dynamics of the spring-damper system; Part 2...
