Two kilograms of liquid n-hexane [Cp = 2.5 kJ/(kg·°C)] and 1 kg of liquid cyclohexane [Cp = 1.8 kJ/(kg·°C)] are mixed and heated from 10°C to 40°C. What is H?

Given Data:

Amount of liquid n-hexane taken = 2kg

Amound of liquid cyclohexane taken =1kg

specific heat capacity of n-hexane = 2.5 kJ/kg.oc

specific heat capacity of cyclohexane =1.8 kJ/kg.oc

Assume no reaction takes place during mixing.

Therefore, Change in enthalpy = Enthalpy change of n-hexane + Enthalpy change of cyclohexane

                                                 = 2*2.5*(40-10) + 1*1.8*(40-10)

                                                 = 204 kJ
