These are combined footing and are in rectangular shape.

There are many reasons

1. A combined footing uses when there is a lack of bearing capacity for isolated footing.

2. When there is havey load on columns .

3. They can be trapozoidal when load on two columns is defferent just to attain sufficient bearing area.

4. If the soil is very weak then we can also provide a raft footing.
