Do you remember your first day or orientation with an former (or current) employer? Describe the phases of socialization you went through. Be sure to define each phase and highlight communication by offering examples of some typical interactions you may have at each stage in the process (pp. 123 - 126).

My former employer was an car dealership showroom where i was new sales person hired to sell cars to customers. My employer organized a one day orientation program in a Hotel where all new and old employees, senior manager and owner of the dealership was present. The first day of the orientation was the first phase of socialization of my new life in the company. This stage happens when you join a new organization and have no idea just some guesses and exepectations based on your research about the company.

For example- i interact with old sales person present in the orientation meeting to gain more information like how many years they have been working, who is supervisor or who is owner of dealership, culture of company etc.

The second phase was encounter which came after i joined the company and start to do the work. In this phase, i start to recieve tasks from my supervisor. Supervisor provide training on the job like how to prospect customer, how to interact with them, information about cars like model and price etc.

The third phase was Metamorphasis. after working for a month or two, i have become comfortable with my job. i started to know norms , culture, authority, expectations of manager and supervisor in the company.now i know that i am part of the organization. for example- everyone knew my name, respect me and value my opinions.i started to have understanding of the organization system.
