Provide a short response based on the readings to the following:

You are at a meeting, and during the meeting someone on the team addresses their manager and points out a crucial mistake that could doom the project. The person says that their manager should have caught it and because of that should resign. As a leader of the group, how would you deal with the subordinate, the manager, and communication with the entire team?

Answer #1

First, I would ask the subordinate to calm down. Next I would ask the manager to excuse the subordinate's behavior and request some time alone with the subordinate outside the room for a few minutes. I would then explain to him/her that the reason that all employees are part of the meeting is to discuss the implications of the project and identify the problems. Therefore, the manager missing that doesn't make him/her incompetent otherwise they wouldn't have got the role. The subordinate has to be careful as the consequences of those actions might even lead to termination. Hence, before making an entrance to the meeting, I'd ask the employee to apologize to the entire team for the rude behavior.

As the team leader, I will apologize to the manager and the communication team for the comments made by the subordinate and assure them that this won't happen again.
