Answer #1

The parameter to be tested is Proportion p

The null and the alternative hypothesis are

H_0: p=0.25 and H_a: p>0.25

The sample proportion is \hat{p}={124 \over 425}\approx 0.292

Value of test static is

z={\hat{p}-p\over \sqrt{p(1-p)\over n}}={0.292-0.25\over \sqrt{0.25(1-0.25)\over 425}}\approx 2

The test is right tailed test, So

P-value is \Pr(z>2)=0.0228

As P-value is 0.0228> 0.01

So we fail to reject the null hypothesis

Not enough evidence to support the claim.

    [Google's free Internet project] According to the Pew Internet & American Life Project, many American adults spend significant amount of time on the Internet every day (Pew Internet Project, 2008). Google has a project that provides free wireless Internet in a medium-sized city. Among several factors that affect Google's decision, one factor is the percentage of adult smartphone users who are actively using social network apps. Google picked a random sample of 400 residents in one of the candidate cities,...

    Question 9 1 pts An F5 tornado is classified as having mean wind speeds greater than 261 mph. In an effort to classify a recent tornado, 20 wind speed measurements randomly selected from within the path of the tornado had a sample mean of 265.1 mph with a sample standard deviation of 41.09 mph. Is this enough evidence to conclude the mean wind speed of this tornado is greater than 261 mph? A t-test statistic and p-value were calculated for...

In a test of hypotheses H :u= 1873 vs. H:< 1873, the rejection region is the interval (-00, -2.896), the value of the sample mean computed from a sample of size 9 is m = 1792, and the value of the test statistic is t = -2.655. The correct decision and justification are Do not reject H, because the sample is small. Do not reject H, because -2.896 < -2.655. Reject...

    00 Usman Haruna: Attempt 1 Use the following information for problems 9 16: Atrazine is a herbicide that selectively controls several species of weeds without harming crops. It is widely used on corn in the Gallatin Valley. If the atrazine concentration is too high, the herbicide has the potential to cause weight loss, cardiovascular damage, retinal and some muscle degeneration, and mammary tumors. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) researchers measured atrazine concentrations (in mg/L) in both June and September at a...
