Answer #1

Fire Truck getting into a wreck on the way to fight the fire.

This is not a result of the fire which means fire is not a proximate cause. A proximate cause is something that resulted in an event that is not desired. For example, water damage to property is due to fire since it was the fire that made them put the water.

Many families, especially in Ward Nine and others of the poorer districts, were stranded by the flood and in terrible danger—from drowning, from disease (there was no potable water), from hunger, from lack of access to health care, and eventually, from roving gangs.
