Yes, it is a part of the entitlement programs, like food stamps / SNAPS or pell grants , these are the rights which are given to the citizen's of the country by the federal government. Welfare programs is a part of non-contributory program which falls under the entitlement program , because an individual is entitled to get benefits without paying any taxes to the government.

Note - Only families having low income, can only qualify and get benefited by these programs.

Six types of welfare programs which are ran by the government are -

  • Temp. assitance for needy families -
  • Suppliment nutrition assitance programs
  • Medicaid - provided to citizens , who have low income.
  • Earned Income tax credit
  • Supplement security income
  • Housing assistance
