Answer #1

Using Excel. go to Data, select Data Analysis, choose Anova: Two-Factor With Replication. Put all values along with headers in input range at alpha = 0.05and rows per sample = 5.

ANOVA
Source of Variation SS df MS F P-value F crit
B 2.13 1 2.13 0.660 0.425 4.260
A 40.27 2 20.13 6.227 0.007 3.403
Interaction 1.87 2 0.93 0.289 0.752 3.403
Within 77.60 24 3.23
Total 121.87 29

F statistic (B1 and B2) = 0.660

F statistic (A1, A2 and A3) = 6.227

F (Interaction) = 0.289

Intercation effect

H0: There is no significant interaction between caffeine use and gender on memory scores in a list of 9 words

H1: There is a significant interaction between caffeine use and gender on memory scores in a list of 9 words

p-value = 0.752

Level of significance = 0.05

Since p-value is more than 0.05, we do not reject the null hypothesis.

So, there is no significant interaction between caffeine use and gender on memory scores in a list of 9 words.
