There are two most common types of data defined in statistics. One is continuous and other is discrete. Discrete data takes any certain value whereas continuous data takes any value with in a certain range. Milk production of cow differ from region to region and also it depends on the breed of the cow. Cow naturally can produce milk of 4 liters per day and high breed cow produces milk of 60 litres per day and also in some region cow can produce a milk of 28 litres per day.
For different region the production of milk is different but for any particular region and for the same breed the milk production from the cow is nearly same and lie with in a certain range. Also there are some dairy in the world or somewhere in India, where the milk production of all the cows are nearly same or they lie with in a certain range.
Therefore to obtain the milk production of cow of particular range or particular breed the average milk production of cow is obtained based on the data of mil derived from cow having certain range. This indicated the desired milk production of cow.
From the above it can be observed that milk derived from the cow is lie on a certain range therefore the milk derived from cow per day is not fixed and hence it is continuous data.
