The Illuminance L can be calculated by two formulae,
1. By using Luminous flux
Illuminance, E = φ/A (unit is lux or lumen per metre square)
φ is luminous flux (unit is lumen)
A is Area (unit is metre square)
This defines Illuminance as luminous flux per unit area.
2. By using luminance
Illuminance, E = L.π/R
L is the luminance (Unit is Candela per metre square)
R is the reflectance factor of the surface.
Illuminance is the product of Luminance (L) and π (rad) divided by reflectance factor of the surface (R) .
The difference between the two methods can be understood as follows:
In 1st formula, as we know, luminous flux is a property of source, i.e light source in a room. Hence, this is important formula for checking if a certain light is appropriate for a perticular room or not.
But, the 2nd formula, tells us about luminance, property of surface to emit or reflect the light, this will vary from room to room, with placement of light, with the kind of surface the walls have.
Hence, when one is concerned about lighting a room both the formulae matters, luminance will give the required illuminance, this Illuminance will be used to calculate the luminous flux and hence we can select appropriate lights for the room.
3. There are two different formulas which can be used to calculate illuminance. Write both of...
Using your completed table, you can calculate the Spearman correlation in two different ways. One way is to use the Pearson correlation formula on the ranks of the data. When you do this, you get rs - -0.62. The second way to calculate the Spearman correlation is to use the following formula: Is = 1 - 62D2 n(n2 - 1) In this formula, D represents the difference between ranks for each individual. Using this formula, you get rs - -0.51....
What are the two methods for calculating GDP? Write the formula for both. Which method do economists typically use, and why?
: Different costing methods provide companies with different options for categorizing and calculating costs. Managers and cost accountants should understand the differences between costing methods so that they can choose and properly implement the method that best suits their needs for decision making. For this short paper, you will compare the characteristics of job costing and process costing methods and give examples of when and why each might be used. You will also address the use and benefits of costing...
1 In the context of FMEA, which of the following formulas is used to calculate the risk priority number? Select one: A. Risk priority number = severity X likelihood of occurrence B. Risk priority number = likelihood of occurrence X inability of controls to detect C. Risk priority number = successful projects/ total project portfolio D. Risk priority number = severity X likelihood of occurrence X inability of controls to detect 2 The Sapphire Crystal Company wants to decentralize its...
Ketone 1 gives two different bicyclic products
depending on the base used: when treated with potassium
tert-butoxide at room temperature, it produces ketone
2, while when treated with LDA at low temperatures
and then heated, it produces ketone 3. Write
arrow-pushing mechanisms for the formation of both
2 and 3 and explain why the
reaction conditions favor each product.

Potential temperature can be used to compare the temperature of air parcels that are at different levels in the troposphere. Since temperature tends to decrease with height, it is difficult to note which regions in the troposphere are experiencing warm and which cold advection. Bringing air parcels adiabatically to a standard level (1000 hPa) allows comparisons to be made between air parcels at different elevations. If the potential temperature of an air parcel at one pressure level is lower than...

Vis the shear force, Mis the bending moment, A the cross sectional area, is the first moment, is the moment of inertia, y is the y coordinater is the inner radius and ry is the outer radius. w Select one: 4V 3A O Ob My...
3. Two different events can occur called A and B. The probability that A occurs is 0.90, the probability that B is 0.70, while the probability that both occur is 0.65. Are the two events independent? What is the probability that either of the events occurs? If B occurs, what is the probability that A will occur? Sixty four athletes are to compete for an Olympic event. How many distinct ways can the three medals, gold, silver, and bronze be...
PartA Can you resolve a 3-D vector along two different directions (random), which are not at 90 to each other? @ Yes, but not uniguely O No Yes, uniquely Yes only when they are 909 to each other
READ BEFORE YOU START: Solve each of the following question using 3 methods: pricing formulas, a financial calculator, and Excel. When calculating using the pricing formula (e.g. Price of perpetuity P = C/r), please write the original formula and the steps where you plug in the number for each variable, and your final answers. When solving via a financial calculator, please indicate the inputs and output variable (e.g. PMT, N, PV, I/Y, and FV). When solving it using Excel, learn...
