Answer #1

book Patients with Down’s syndrome and cerebral palsy are kept in the Buildings which resemble warehouses. They are kept in metal cribs where they become weak year after years.

They lack care as people are tied up not for minutes but for hours. Their treatment has been termed as inhuman. It has been termed as torture. In these countries, mental diseases were considered wrong and children were advised that their children should stay at over crowded government hospitals. This not only violates patient care but also the principle of beneficence, where it is important that doctors should think for policies that would benefit the patient and not be concerned with any prejudices.

The conditions were so bad that children stopped growing as a result of neglect. Fully grown adult men were kept in cribs and children as old as 15 years would look tiny. This shows how children were neglected. It is not clear if parents have been told the exact situation. There is a problem of informed consent as no one is aware of what the real scenario is. Moreover, this is a situation where the mental health patients are just dumped for and not taken care of, rather deteriorated. Thus, this is a situation of maleficence, where the neglect is causing harm to the patients.

What is sad is that even the government is not aware of the situation and even when they are made aware, it would take them Years to correct the situation that is at hand.
