Yes economic incentives and disincentives influence family size decision because of following mentioned reasons:

  • Economic incentive helps in targeting the root cause of population increase or decrease more efficiently. For instance if a particular community population growth is lower than the average population growth of the nation, they can be given incentive apart from others.
  • It's a good way to promote population stabilization of a country.
  • Economic incentive provides motivation to the citizen to follow the suggestion if there is no side-effect of it.
  • Few instances of countries which have followed this model is mentioned below:
    • Russia's population growth is going in negative trajectory to balance this, government have given financial incentives to the family who will have more child to increase population of their country.
    • China is the most populous country in the world, to curb population growth there they have created one child policy and its effect is seen in few years.
