Use the steps outlined by the FBI as well as the information in the packet to create a profile for one of the three cases (your choice). Clearly state which crime scene you chose. Be sure to cover all the relevant details listed in the profiling guideline and provide a rationale for your decisions.
The FBI has developed their own system of profiling that consists of:
Input – collecting crime scene information
Decision process – arranging input into meaningful patterns of behavior
Crime assessment – reconstructing the crime and offender motivation
Criminal profile – developing specific descriptions of the offender
Investigation – using the profile to aid in the investigation
Apprehension – checking new information against the validity of the profile and changing the profile accordingly.
Next, please try your best to address the issue of media strategies for the investigation into the crime scene you chose. Additionally, choose one other topic from that list and provide a brief explanation of what that entails

(Answer) The FBI has developed their own system of profiling that consists of:
Input – Victim: 28-year-old Caucasian female.
Place: Living room
Cause of Death: Blunt force trauma
State: Partially clothed, Forced entry, blood on the sofa near the body and blood splatters all around the body.
Decision process – Since the rear and patio doors showed signs of forced entry, it can be assumed that the girl did not know the murder or knew them and shared animosity. Interrogation would focus on finding stalkers, ex-boyfriends, rivals, enemies or people she has not shared a good relationship with.
Crime assessment – There were multiple wounds on the head and shoulder area with one major deep wound at the head that may have been the one that led to her death. The person who seems to have done this was clearly not welcomed into the house. Furthermore, we can assume that this person did not enter with a motive to steal as objects in the flat seem to have not been disturbed.
Criminal profile – The murderer and victim seemed to have known each other. This is because the crime does not seem impersonal. Objects were not stolen and there is no mention of missing money. Furthermore, the victim may have noticed the criminal trying to enter the house and did not open doors for them. Therefore, it would be best to start looking for people who she has a personal connection with.
Investigation – The victims’ workplace, her university if any, he dating record and old and new neighbourhood people would have to be listed and questioned. Also, the victims’ phone records and acquaintances would have to be listed as well. Questioning friends and family would be the best place to start.
Apprehension – The important question that needs to be answered is whether or not she knew her house was being broken into. If she knew it and tried to protect herself when she saw the criminal, it can be confirmed that she probably knew him. If the criminal managed to sneak in quietly, it could be that the murderer did not know the victim. Hopefully, talking to the people she knew would reveal any enemies or hostile individuals that she knew.
Media Strategies – It would be best to let the media know that there has been a murder in the vicinity. This would help caution the people around the area. Furthermore, it would be essential to avoid giving out any more details as it would caution the criminal and help them navigate their future actions based on the notions of the police.
