Hey, it's a very good and interesting question for understanding. Let's start:

Let's say you have 2 files. in one file there are:

whereas in the other file you have:

Consider the below example:

Assuming that EmployeeFile will contain the valid department_id.

EmployeeFile:

DepartmentFile:

Assuming DepartmentFile contains all the department entries in a consistent manner.

Now our objective is to connect these two files so that we can get the respective employee name and department name at the same time.

Basic information known is both the files are having a common data member filed called department_id. So, our algorithm will use the track of that only. I am going to write the pseudocode.

Assuming, that each record will be in a line on the files.

*************************PSEUDOCODE*****************************

1. Load Both the files in the memory. i.e, open both the files in read mode (e.g. EmployeeFile and DepartmentFile)

2. For each record in the Employee file, find the department_id and repeat step 3 and step 4.

3. Use this department_id and search it in the Departement file.

4. If the department_id obtained from EmployeeFile is found in the DepartmentFile, print the respective department name for that employee along with the employee details.

Else move to the next record(Considering that the department entry is not added in the DepartmentFile)

5. In the end, all the employee name and their respective department name will be printed on the standard output.

*************************PSEUDOCODE*****************************

This objective is achieved by JOIN operations in SQL.

The inner join operation provides this functionality.

The section in light green will be our data containing the employee details with the respective department name.

I hope it will help.

Thanks and all the best :)

Please don't forget to thumbs up if it helped you.
