Answer #1

here,

q1 = - 2q is at x1 = 0 m

q2 = 5 q is at x2 = 1 m

a)

the value of x between (-1m) to 0 m for potential be zer0

V = k * (-2q)/x + k * (5q)/(x + 1)

0 = - 2 /x + 5 /(x+1)

solving for x

x = 0.67 m

the value of x is -0.67 m

b)

the potential is greater when go left from -1 m

c)

the electric potential at x = -5 m , V = k * (-2q)/5 + k * (5q)/(5 + 1)

V = ( 9 * 10^9 * 3.67 * 10^-9) * ( - 2/5 + 5/6)

solving for V

V = 14.3 V

the electric potential at x = -5 m is 14.3 V
