18. A large bundle of individual 50.0 gram projectiles are dropped from an airplane at 5.0 km altitude. If the projectiles have a coefficient of friction of 0.10, a surface area of 1.00 cm2 , and air has a density of 1.18 kg/m3 , find the terminal velocity of the projectiles.

Answer #1

Terminal velocity is given by v = sqrt(2mg/(C rho A))

putting the values in SI units,

v = sqrt(2*0.050*9.8/(0.10*1.18*1e-4))

= 288.2 m/s answer
