Question

Refer to the following diagram, where a Switch A with ports A to F is connected to workstations and servers number 1 to 8. Switch B with port 1 to port 6, starting from port 1 on the left which connected to port A in switch A. multiple dedicated 10Mbps LAN Switch A Mulbple simultaneous 10Mbps ing matrix A B All connedions at 10Mbps Switch B Hub 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Assume that the forwarding table is initially empty and that the following sequence of transmissions occurs 1. Station 2 transmits a frame to station 1 2. Station 2 transmits a frame to server 4 3. Server 3 transmits a frame to station 6 4. Station 6 transmits a frame to station 5 5. Station 1 transmits a frame to station 2 6. Station 8 transmits a frame to server 4 For each transmission, list the port(s) on which the frame will be transmitted by the switch/bridge Show the contents of the final tables for Switch A and Switch B a) b)

Answer #1

a)

Consider MAC addresses of workstations and servers from 1 to 8

     are MAC 1, MAC 2, MAC 3, MAC 4, MAC 5, MAC 6, MAC 7, MAC 8.

Consider MAC addresses of switch A and switch B are MAC A and MAC B.

     1. Station 2 transmits a frame to station 1

In this case a frame from Station 2 will be sent to Switch B

through port 5. Now switch B will make the below entry in its

forwarding table and broadcast the frame and it will be recieved by station 1.

MAC 2         5                     [MAC Address            Port]

       2. Station 2 transmits a frame to server 4

In this case a frame from Station 2 will be sent to Switch B

through port 5. After that the switch broadcast the frame and

it will be recieved by Switch A. Now Switch A will make the

below entry in its table and broadcast it to all of its ports.

MAC B         A                     [MAC Address            Port]

      3. Server 3 transmits a frame to station 6

In this case a frame from Server 3 will be sent to Switch A

through port B. Now switch A will make the below entry in

its forwarding table and broadcasts the frame.

MAC 3         B                     [MAC Address            Port]

        4. Station 6 transmits a frame to station 5

In this case a frame from Station 6 will be sent to Hub and the

Hub will broadcast the frame and finally it will be received by

station 5. Here hub is a passive device and it doesnt contain

any table to store the entries.

       5. Station 1 transmits a frame to station 2

In this case a frame from Station 1 will be sent to Switch B

through port 4. Now switch B will make the below entry in

its forwarding table and send frame to station 2.

MAC 1         4                     [MAC Address            Port]

       6. Station 8 transmits a frame to server 4

In this case a frame from Station 8 will be sent to Switch A

through port F. After that the switch broadcast the frame as

it doesnt contain the entry for the destination server 4.

Now Switch A will make the below entry in its table

MAC 8         F                   [MAC Address            Port]

Briefly describe How we get the Mean transport value? A semi-automated flexible manufacturing cell (FMC) is used to produce three products The products are made by two automated processing stations followed by an assembly station. There is also a load/unload station. Material handling between stations in the FMC is accomplished by mechanized carts that move tote bins containing the particular components to be processed and then assembled into a given product. The carts transfer tote bins between stations. In this...
