Question

Palindromes A palindrome is a nonempty string over some alphabet that reads the same forward and backward. Examples of palindromes are all strings of length 1, civic, racecar, noon, and aibohphobia (fear of palindromes). You may assume that in the problems below, an input string is given as an array of characters. For example, input string noon is given as an array s[L.4], where s[1] = n, s[2] = o, s[3] = o, and s[4] = n. (a) (15 pts) Give a recursive algorithm that tests if the input string is a palindrome. Write down the pseudocode and use induction to prove that your algorithm correctly identifies palindromes. Analyze your algorithms running time. (b) (15 pts) Sometimes removing a single character from the string, turns it into a palindrome. For example, if we remove 1 from the revolver, we will get a palindrome. We call such strings almost palindromes. Write down the pseudocode for an algorithm that tests if the input string is an almost palindrome. Analyze your algorithms running time.

5 Dynamic Programming. A palindrome is a nonempty string over some alphabet that reads the same forward and backward. Examples of palindromes are all strings of length 1, civic, racecar, and aibohphobia (fear of palindromes). Give an efficient algorithm to find the longest palindrome that is a sunsequence of a given input string. For example, given the input character, your algorithm should return carac. What is the running time of your algorithm?

A palindrome is a word or phrase that reads the same both forwards and backwards. "racecar" is a palindrome. So is, "a man a plan a canal, panama" if you ignore the spacing and the comma. Discovering how to automate the detection of palindromes is a good way to test your understanding of loops and strings. The file, "hw2problem5.py", contains a function called is_palindrome(), which has a single string parameter, s. If s is a palindrome, then is_palindrome() returns the...

C Program: 6.31 (Palindromes) A palindrome is a string that's spelled the same way forward and backward. Some examples of palindromes are: "radar" "able was i ere i saw elba" and, if you ignore blanks: "a man a plan a canal panama" Write a recursive function testPalindrome that returns 1 if the string stored in the array is a palindrome and 0 otherwise. The function should ignore spaces and punctuation in the string. Use the function in a complete program...

A palindrome is a word or phrase that reads the same forward and backward, ignoring blanks and considering uppercase and lowercase versions of the same letter to be equal. For example, the following are palindromes: • warts n straw • radar • Able was I ere I saw Elba • tacocat Write a program that will accept a sequence of characters terminated by a period and will decide whether the string—without the period—is a palindrome. Problem 2: A palindrome is a string of characters that is the same when reversed (e.g., ‘affa’). Single characters are palindromes. Suppose you are given a string S of N characters, and wish to produce an N-by-N matrix P, where Pij = 1 if i ≤ j and S[i, ..., j] is a palindrome, and Pij = 0 otherwise. Part a: Matrix P can be computed using brute force by separately examining each substring of S and determining whether it...

C++ A palindrome is a string that reads the same backward as forward. For example, the words mom, dad, madam and radar are all palindromes. Write a class Pstring that is derived from the STL string class. The Pstring class adds a member functionbool isPalindrome( )that determines whether the string is a palindrome. Include a constructor that takes an STL string object as parameter and passes it to the string base class constructor. Test your class by having a main...

Assignment 4 Real Deal: Crier On Us Some word games, like Scrabble, require rearranging a combination of letters to make a word. This type of arrangement is generally referred to as an anagram, it's known as a permutation in mathematics. This assignment will give you some experience thinking about and writing recursive functions. Write a C++ program that searches for ``anagrams'' in a dictionary. An anagram is a word obtained by scrambling the letters of some string. For example, the...

This C++ Program consists of: operator overloading, as well as experience with managing dynamic memory allocation inside a class. Task One common limitation of programming languages is that the built-in types are limited to smaller finite ranges of storage. For instance, the built-in int type in C++ is 4 bytes in most systems today, allowing for about 4 billion different numbers. The regular int splits this range between positive and negative numbers, but even an unsigned int (assuming 4 bytes)...
