Since its infinite we can replace the second rung and on with Req

so Req is in parallel with 1 ohm

R = Req/(Req + 1)

so Req = Req/(Req + 1) + 1

Req - 1 = Req/(Req + 1)

Req^2 - 1 = Req
Req^2 - Req - 1 = 0

use quadratic formula
Req= ( 1 + sqrt(5))/2 = 1.618 ohms

R^2-R-1 =0

Req = 1.618 ohm

b) 12*(0.68/1.68)^n =V

W = V^2/R <1

so V<1

4th resistance
