Testing is intended to show that a program does what it is intended to do. Why

may testers not always know what a program is intended to do?

Testing purpose is to test the functionality or the features of the applications or the systems or apps whether they meet the acceptance criteria, scope and meet the quality standards prescribed for the applications or the systems or apps and their defects or bugs ,regression issues Thorough testing is done for programs , testers do not have the necessity to know the software program that is abstract for testers. They need to test functionality or the features implemented by the program Some testers tend to know only what the specific module or program is intended to do, which they test as specific program functionality .Some testers may know entire applications or programs what is intended to do as full functionality , why because a single tester can not test entire big enterprise applications as it will consume huge amounts of effort and time. So the task for testers given modules wise in big enterprise applications as the big testing team tests the applications. But i can't agree that many testers do not know what a program is intended to know. Actually mostly testers have full knowledge about every feature that a program is going to implement as they know the program's functionality requirements as functionality or feature . A few may be exceptions. In my experience , I never come across your question's scenario. In a tester's perspective they view features or functionality not as a program in an application as a business user who tends to see as a feature or functionality
