Question

Question 2 16 Marks The double reduction helical gear reducer shown in Figure 2 transmits 40000+4Y W (Y is the last 4 digits of your student identification number). Shaft I is the input, rotating at 200+q rads and receiving power directly from the electric motor through a flexible coupling. Shaft 2 rotates at 90 +q rad/s. shaft 3 is the output, rotating at 27+Q rads. (where Q are the last two , digits of your student identification number). A chain sprocket is mounted on the output shaft as shown and delivers power upward. The data for the gears are given in Table 1 Each gear has a 25-degree pressure angle and a 45-degree helix angle. The combinations of the left- and right- hand helixes are arranged so that the axial forces oppose each others on shaft 2 as shown. As a design engineer, you are required to design that shaft with neglecting the weight of the elements on the shafts and using AISI 5140 OOT1000 for the shaft Table I Gear Diametral PitchPitch Diameter (mm) Number of teeth Face Width (mm 38.1 76.2 50.8 12 24 12 19.05 19.05 25.4 25.4 6152.4 36

Question 2: [20 Points) The Figure below shows a portion of a pump that is gear driven at uniform load and speed. The shaft is supported by bearings mounted in the pump housing. The shaft is made of steel, its yield strength is 800 MPa and its ultimate tensile strength is 1000 MPa. The surface of the shaft is machined. Due to the fillet at A, the fatigue bending stress concentration factor is 2.0, the fatigue torsion stress concentration factor...

P6.18 The gear train system shown in Figure P6.18/19 includes shafts (1) and (2), which are solid 15 mm diameter steel shafts. The allowable shear stress of each shaft is 85 MPa. The diameter of gear B is Ds 200 mm, and the diameter of gear C is Dc 150 mm. The bearings shown allow the shafts to rotate freely. Determine the maximum torque TD that can be applied to the system without exceeding the allowable shear stress in either...

    2. Consider the triple speed reduction gear box shown in Figure 1. All the gears are made with a diametral pitch of 16 in. The input of the gear train is gear A, and the output is gear G. The gear train transmits an input toque of 250 lb-in, at a speed of 2,500 rpm clockwise. The number of teeth on each gear is given as follows: NA 24 teeth, Na = 60 teeth, Nc 20 teeth, No 58 teeth,...

please solve with details Question#1140Marksl The shaft shown in the figure is rotating at 650 rpm and it receives 5592.75 W through a flexible coupling at its right end. The power is delivered to an adjacent shaft through a single helical gear B having a normal pressure angle of 20° and a helix angle of 15o. The pitch diameter for the gear is 105.1814 mm (4.141 in). A spacer is used to position the gear relative to bearing C. The...
