Question

I could really use some help with this. Shown is 3 parts: the questions I need help with, the diagram, and additional info for each piece of the system, if needed. If you can, please answer fully and explain where necessary. Please also write legibly. Thank you for your time and help!

a) What are the powers required by the condensate pump and feedwater pump? What is the heat transfer rate to the water in the boiler? Describe why they are so different. b) What is the flow rate of natural gas in standard cubic feet per hour! c) What is the effective boundary temperature of heat transfer to the de-aerate tanks? d) Make a table with the rates of entropy production in each component EXCEPT the regenerator (because it is internally reversible), the water softeners, the water polishers, the whistle valve, and e) What is the daily cost of natural gas for the boiler and of electricity for the pumps? Do these f) What would be the definition of thermal efficiency for this plant? What is that efficiency? Is this g) What is the maximum diameter of the whistle aperture? What is its nozzle efficiency? the whistle. Which three rates are the highest? Why? numbers seem realistic? Why or why not? a good or bad indicator of performance for this plant?

Problem 3 A supercritical steam power plant has a high pressure of 30.0MPa and an exit condenser temperature of 50°C. The maximum temperature in the boiler is 1000°C. There is one open feedwater heater receiving extraction from the turbine at IMPa, and saturated liquid exits the feedwater heater. The isentropic efficiency of the turbine during both sections of expansion is 88.5%. The turbine produces 25MW of power. Assume both pumps are isentropic. Page 2 of 3 30MPa 1000 Turbine Boiler...

    3. (40 pts) A steam power plant based on the Rankine cycle, shown in the below, operates to develop net cycle power. Saturated vapor at 8 bar enters the turbine where it expands to the condenser pressure of 1 bar. Water liquid exits the condenser 30 °C and 1 bar and it is pumped to the boiler pressure of 8 bar. Combined cycle power plants are common because of their high efficiency and scalability. They typically combine a gas turbine cycle (the Brayton Cycle) with a steam turbine cycle (the Rankine Cycle) [1]. The goal of this project is to determine the operating efficiency and profitability of a realistic combined cycle power plant. The power plant is as follows: 1. A natural gas-fired Brayton cycle with mÛ air,Br = 1.25 kg s−1 . (a) Ambient air at 1 bar and 300...

A natural gas-fired furnace in a Textile Plant is used to provide steam at 140 0C. At times of high demand, the furnace supplied heat to the steam at rate of 30 MJ/s. The plant also uses up to 6 MW of electrical power purchased from the local power company. The plant management is considering converting the existing process plant into a Cogeneration Plant to meet both their process-heat and power requirements. Your job is to come up with some...

please do both and make sure it's correct. I really need help and i have gotten the wrong answer twice. When gas expands in a cylinder with radius r, the pressure P at any given time is a function of the volume V: P = P(V). The force exerted by the gas on the piston (see the figure) is the product of the pressure and the area: F = ner2p. The work done by the gas when the volume expands...
