Answer #1

Fm = qū x B

The direction of the magnetic force can be determined by using the right hand rule (for positive charges) or the left hand rule (for negative charges), so that it turns out to be mutually perpendicular to the velocity and to the magnetic field. When v and B are parallel the magnetic force is zero. Particles with no charge feel no magnetic force either. The magnetic field lines always go from N to S poles.

1) Fm points out of the page

2) Fm points into the page

3) Fm points west

4) Fm= 0

5) Fm points east

6) Fm points north

7) Fm points south

8)Fm = 0
