Answer #1

At the isoelectric point the molecule has a net charge equal to zero.

In the given question, 1st structure has charge = +1, 2nd structure has charge = +1 - 1 = 0, 3rd structure has charge = +1 - 1 - 1 = -1, 4th structure has charge = -1 -1 = -2

Hence 2nd structure is at isoelectric point.

pI is the pH at isoelectric point when the molecule has a net charge equal to zero.

pI = (pKac + pKaR ) / 2 = (2.1+3.9)/2 = 6/2 = 3
