Question

College Physics 1e LS W 12 13 5 ime s A garden hose with an inside diameter of 13.8 mm fills a bucket with 14.4 kg of water in 17.9 s (a) What is the mass flow rate of water in the hose? : 0.818 kg/s (b) What is the speed of water in the hose? m/s (c) To get the same mass flow rate from part (a), but with a fluid with density lower than waters, how would you have to change the speed from part (b)? A. The speed must increase. I just need part b . The speed of water in the hose . Thanks !

Answer #1

Mass flow rate= density of water*velocity *area

Velocity = mass flow rate/ area*density.

Density of water is 1 kg/m^3

V=. 818/pi*r*r

= . 818/3.14*13.8*13.8*10^-6

1367.8 m/s

    A garden hose with a diameter of 2.3 cm is used to fill a bucket, which has a volume of 0.11 cubic meters. It takes 1.8 minutes to fill. An adjustable nozzle is attached to the hose to decrease the diameter of the opening, which increases the speed of the water. The hose is held level to the ground at a height of 1.0 meters, and the diameter of the nozzle is decreased until a flower bed 2.6 meters away...

    Please show explanations Az water Air 1 atm 1. Your gardening hose has a hose-end feeder attached for spraying insecticide or fertilizer. It works on the Bernoulli principle, similar to the atomizer we did in class-rushing water through the hose creates a lower pressure that draws up insecticide/fertilizer through the sprayer. Data: Cross sectional area of the hose at point 1 is 5.2 cm2. Speed of the water at point I is 2.8m/s. Density of water is 1000 kg/m, Density...
