Stewart D. Freidman’s Total Leadership Process identifies four domains in which life changes take place: work, home , community and self (mind, body and spirit). The Total Leadership concept rests on three principles: Be real, Be whole and Be innovative.

How would you apply these three principles to each of the four domains to help maximize a life-work balance?

Stewart D Friedman's three principals are being real,whole and innovative at work, home, community, self plays a crucial role in benefitting self and important people around.This process was termed as 'Total Leadership'.It is a mutual process where active contribution in these areas yield self growth.For instance, Tom, a 39 year old software engineer, applies the principles and progresses as following:

  • At work:He keeps a track of people he meets everyday and networks with them.He learns the effective strategies from the professionals he meet for enhancing his influential skills.
  • At Home: In an innovative manner, he connects with his wife on discussing as well as helping her everyday in the kitchen. Also, with his younger brother to discuss on how is his teaching job going.The motive of these conversations is to bring the family closer to one another.
  • Community: Tom is associated with few non profit organisations to provide community service on weekends for few hours.This makes his feel 'as a whole', since he liked contibuting to the social cause.
  • Self : By writing a brief everyday about his life that helps him to understand what he has contributed to his growth and his society's betterment.
