Sam is working as a network engineer in NZ Telecom. He is asked to deploy a cellular network for a new suburb in Sydney which currently has no cellular coverage by NZ Telecom. What are the various factors that Sam should consider when designing the cellular network for this new suburb? Explain your answer

For a network engineer working to deploy a cellular network in an area which has no cellular coverage, the factors to be conisdered are:

  • Population Density- If sufficient population density does not exist in the area, deployment of cellular network will not be profitable
  • Accessibility- The region must be accessible to the network engineer to be able to set up a local office in the region for connections and for trouble shooting any issues that arise
  • Feasibility- Laying down a cellular network is a cumbersome task and the area might have connectivity issues. So, he must ascertain whether such a connection is possible or not
