Answer #1

In this problem we will be using the given diffusion formula. Here we will find the width of the given thing and use it in the formula to find the diffusion time.

1] the width of synaptic cleft = 30nm , t =( 30 nm)^2 / 2D = 450/D nm^2

2] Width across plasma membrane = 10nm , t = (10nm)^2 /2D = 50/D nm^2

3] Width across the resperatory membrane in lungs = 0.5mm , t= (0.5mm)^2/2D = 0.125/D mm^2

4] The radius of a typical human cell = 10μm , t= (10μm)^2/2D = 50/D μm^2

5] the radius of beaker(100 mL ) is nearly taken as = 5 cm , t=(5cm)/2D = 12.5 /D cm^2

In answering the following questions, pretendu don't know anything about what is happening before the break in the records. Keep in mind that voltage clamping is a tool that allows the experimenter to control the voltage across the membrane, to measure resultant current flows across the membrane, and from that in tomation to interpret the states of transmembrane ion channels. (So "action potential" and voltage clamp" cannot appear in a description of a single scenario; nor can "repolarization" and "voltage...

Grades Achievements Course Help (1 point) A woman is standing at the edge of a slow-moving river which is one mile wide, and she wishes to return to her campground on the opposite side of the river. Assume that the woman can walk at 5 miles per hour and swim at 3 miles per hour, and that she will first swim to cross the river and then walk the remaining distance to the campground, which is 10 miles downstream from...

Unit 3 Study Resource Meiosis • Process by which diploid cells create haploid cells NOT part of the cell cycle > only some cells ever undergo meiosis During meiosis I, homologous chromosomes line up to allow them to be separated into two new cells o They can become "tangled" during this phase, which leads to crossing-over (rearranging the alleles) O Result of meiosis I is two non-identical haploid cells Meiosis Il looks very similar to mitosis, in that sister chromatids...

Distinguishing Between Inferences and Assumptions To be skilled in critical thinking is to be able to take one’s thinking apart systematically, to analyze each part, assess it for quality and then improve it. The first step in this process is understanding the parts of thinking, or elements of reasoning. These elements are: purpose, question, information, inference, assumption, point of view, concepts, and implications. They are present in the mind whenever we reason. To take command of our thinking, we need...
