Because it is better to prove your result by rejecting null hypothesis than failing to reject it.

Ha: \mu > 100 will be proved if we reject the null hypothesis and in the other case we need to keep Ha: \mu < 100, we would need to fail to reject the null hypothesis which is not strong evidence.
