An advantage of including a quasi-independent variable in an experiment is that it; allows us to assess the generality of our findings across the different levels of the quasi-independent variable.

The main disadvantage of including a quasi-independent variable in an experiment is that the results are often misinterpreted as the participants are not randomly assigned to conditions or orders of conditions (Cook & Campbell, 1979).
