Excel can be used to find the critical value for an F distribution for a given significance level. For example, to find the critical value (the value above which you would reject the null hypothesis) for ?=0.05 with dfbetween=3and dfwithin=3, enter

=FINV(0.05,3,36)

Enter this into Excel to confirm you obtain the value 2.866.

You conduct a one-factor ANOVA with 3 groups and 7 subjects in each group (a balanced design). Use Excel to find the critical values for ?=0.02 and ?=0.01 (report accurate to 3 decimal places).

Answer #1

we can use F.INV.RT(alpha level,df between ,df within)

df of freeom between = 3-1=2

df of freedom within =21-3=18

F0.02=4.90006 ........by using F.INV(0.02,2,18)

F0.01=6.01290..................by using F.INV(0.01,2,18)

For example, while performing a t-test to compare two groups, you obtain a t-statistics of 3.56 If th e critical value is 3.1, do you reject or accept the null hypothesis? H:H1 = 42 H:H1 H2 You believe both populations are normally distributed, but you do not know the standard deviations for either. However, you also have reason to believe the variances of the two populations are not equal. You obtain a sample of size ni...
