Thirty undergraduate students were recruited for a research project in a psychology class. The students were randomly assigned to two different groups: Group A saw a moving fictional movie dealing with the death of a young man in battle. Group B saw a documentary on the war in Iraq, including the numbers of soldier killed or wounded. Empathy was then measured with the Interpersonal Empathy Test which had 25 questions scaled from 1 to 4. Thus test scores could range from 25 to 100. The researchers wanted to determine whether there was a difference in empathy between those students who saw a moving fictional account of a death; and those students who got reality-based information. The empathy scores are below: Group A: 67 98 68 77 82 77 69 80 84 92 77 87 84 72 79 Group B: 48 69 82 55 59 52 49 75 78 66 48 57 61 59 70 Use SPSS to analyze the data. Use the t test for independent groups. What did you learn from the test? Write in words what the results of the t test means. Report the mean empathy score for each group, the standard deviation for each group, the value of t and the p value. The correct way to report a t test is as follows: t(value for degrees of freedom)=value of t, p=value attained. Attach an output file to the discussion showing the results of your t test. You can copy and paste into a Word document if you would like.
The SPSS output is:
![T-TEST GROUPS=Group (1 2) /MISSING=ANALYSIS /VARIABLES=Data / CRITERIA=CI (-95). → T-Test [DataSeto] Group Statistics Std. Er](http://img.homeworklib.com/questions/261f60f0-9edd-11eb-a4a1-2fa309ebcdea.png?x-oss-process=image/resize,w_560)
t = 4.853
p-value = 0.000
df = 28
Since the p-value (0.000) is less than the significance level (0.05), we can reject the null hypothesis.
Therefore, we can conclude that there was a difference in empathy between those students who saw a moving fictional account of death; and those students who got reality-based information.
Please give me a thumbs-up if this helps you out. Thank you!

An experiment is conducted to determine if classes offered in an online format are as effective as classes offered in a traditional classroom setting. Students were randomly assigned to one of the two teaching methods. Data below. a. Test the claim that the standard deviations for the two groups are equal. What is the p-value of the test? b. Construct a 95% confidence interval on the difference in expected final exam scores between the two groups. Does the data support...
A teacher decided to test the effect of sound when students were studying Students in de were randomly assigned into three groups of eight. All groups where when the same material and 30 minutes to study prior to being given a quiz. One group was exposed to consistent background music, one group was exposed to a soundtrack of minor construction work where the volume fluctuated and the third group was left in quiet to study. The teacher believes a constant...

There are two sections of statistics, one in the afternoon (PM) with 30 students and one in the morning (AM) with 22 students. Each section takes the identical test. The PM section, on average, scored higher than the AM section. The scores from each section are given in the table below. Test the claim that the PM section did significantly better than the AM section, i.e., is the difference in mean scores large enough to believe that something more than...

Student stress at final exam time comes partly from the
uncertainty of grades and the consequences of those grades. Can
knowledge of a midterm grade be used to predict a final exam grade?
A random sample of 200 BCOM students from recent years was taken
and their percentage grades on assignments, midterm exam, and final
exam were recorded. Let’s examine the ability of midterm and
assignment grades to predict final exam grades.
The data are shown here:
